Lesson 3.1: The Gear Train & Differential

The rotating motor shaft connects to a set of reduction gears. These gears slow the speed of the rotation but increase its torque (twisting force), which is necessary to move a heavy mower.

The final gear drives the differential. The differential's job is to allow the left and right wheels to turn at different speeds when you are turning the mower.
